And so it begins...

So I decided to become a blogger.

Funny..less than a month ago I declared I hated blogging and thought it was the stupidist thing ever..pretty much. I still hate Twitter and al the people who love it. Crazy, this web2.0 stuff. 20 months ago, I thought I knew something about computers and the internet. Now, I know that I know nothing..lol.

In the begining, I hated Myspace and made fun of people on it. Then, while I was living in Europe and totally diconected from my friends back home or elsewhere, I joined the network. Then I fell in love with it. I spent hours and days and weeks learing about how it all worked and customizing my page. I've always been one to oragnize my surroundings and utilities with a passion. I love making whatever I'm involved in truely mine, expressing my creativity and style.

So I made my Myspace fun and interactive with widgets and massive amounts of friend adding...and believe me, I put myself out there. Of course it was a guilty pleasure but I never really imagined it would become something that I relied on to make a living.

A good friend and business savvy dude, Rhett, called me up and told me he was working on a business deal to build an on-line personal store in a widget. I didn't even understand what he was talking about, but me asked me to help build a Myspace page. I just turned a few dials, clicked a couple switches and took my myspace css code and pluged it in to whatever platform he was using and presto! I really didn't do much but it came out ok.

About a year later I was at a party with Rhett and a bunch of our great friends from all over the world. I was telling him how I was sick of bartending and wanted to get into something more career oriented and long term. He told me he knew of a few guys in New York starting an online marketing company. They were all about doing Myspace promotions with major recording artists and consumer web products. He said they were looking for young people who had at least a basic understanding of social media and to be account managers for their growing number of clients. I had always wanted to live in New York City and this was a chance to get some kind of direction on a sustainable carrer. I followed up and months later, end of April '07, he said he got me an interview at their Williamsberg, Brooklyn office. I made a trip of it and spent a few days in Montreal, drove down to NYC for a few days, got the interview and nailed it. I flew back to California and packed my life up. June 1st, 2007 I started at BL.

Today is December 20th, 2008 and what a trip its been. I'm headed back to San Fransisco for Xmess and then to see Sylvie in Texas for New Years. I just wanted to get this 1st blog out and officially call myself a blogger.

And so it begins......
